2021 & Beyond
I have stated in prior ruminations I am not a New Year’s resolution type of guy. Guess what? This aspect has not changed but to say I have not changed during one of the most tumultuous years many of us have grown to despise with an utter passion, would be a tad dishonest both intellectually and spiritually. A profound truth is you can choose to either endure during times of adversity or succumb to toxicity. The human mind can be a contradictory labyrinth where truth and fantasy often comingle to muddy proverbial waters; 2020 has driven home this concept.
I think it goes without saying, no matter what part of the world you reside but especially here in the United States, 2020 is a year some historians may just consider skipping because it is by far the biggest hot mess of the modern era. Yet, for content creators such as myself, this year has created a plethora of real life, useable content I can pull from for years to come. As one who writes in the science fiction and fantasy genres, I can honestly say, someone could not make up the sheer volume of falderal the world has experienced in 2020.
In an effort to remain cognizant of my propensity to pontificate on issues I am passionate about, I will not meander down the path of politics or venture into the anti-science realm because the purpose of this blog is to inspire and chronicle my experiences navigating the creative process. Admittedly, real life events and certain epochs do influence content creation, but they should not derail the inherent purpose of said content. Ultimately, content creators oversee how the inspiration within them is translated for others to consume. Well, let us just say, we are in charge up to a point until our characters start opening their mouths and sabotaging our finely laid plans (smile).
As you have noticed, I neglected to post an entry for October and November. My husband and I were in the throes of selling our 5th wheel recreational vehicle we lived in, while navigating the home buying process at the same time. Those who have participated in this superfluous and tedious process can attest to how unnecessarily stressful it can be. In hindsight, I should have taken the necessary time, internet or no internet, to create a post; it would have been a needed diversion. This is merely an explanation of my absence, not an excuse which is why I felt it necessary to post an entry in the final hours of 2020.
A renewed sense of fervor to create content not only focusing on The Sy’Arrian Legacy has arisen in the months I was away from this blog. Those of you familiar with how creativity floats around in our heads, waiting until we least expect it to strike, can attest to its never-ending cadence. We should always welcome the continual chatter of the characters in our heads because they keep us grounded and motivated to continue the craft.
I have limitedly spoken to the direction of where I will be taking this blog, my future writings and greater attempts to understand the marketing process; I will not repeat them here but suffice to say, beginning in 2021, I will be implementing serious changes to achieve my end goals of revamping this blog, using my own voice to narrate posts, setting time aside to develop the self, and actually perform some serious writing.
As always, feel free to post your questions or comments. I will respond, if need be, when I am able.
